Pokemon Stats

Pokemon have six Combat Stats. Any given Stat has a Total composed of the Pokemon's Base Stat (based on its species) and Added Stats (gained through level-up).

A Pokemon's Added Stats are governed through three simple rules:

  • A Pokemon should always have Added Stats equal to 15 + its Level
  • A Pokemon's Added Stats cannot exceed its Base Stat. At level 6, this increases to twice its Base Stat. At level 20, it increases yet again to three times its Base Stat.

Let's look at a few cute Skiddo!

Hoofiekins, lvl 3 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 7 14
ATK 7 0 7
DEF 5 5 10
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 6 12
SPEED 5 0 5
Mme Gorehorn, lvl 3 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 2 9
ATK 7 7 14
DEF 5 2 7
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 2 8
SPEED 5 5 10
Paul, lvl 3 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 4 11
ATK 7 4 11
DEF 5 4 9
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 3 9
SPEED 5 3 8

Here we see three different goats. Hoofiekins wants to be tough and tanky, so he has maxed out his HP, Defense, and Special Defense! Mme Gorehorn has instead maxed out Attack and Speed so she can hit hard and fast, and distributed the leftover points. Paul has embraced the middle path and spread out his points between his five relevant stats, ignoring only Special Attack.

At higher levels, Pokemon can become even more specialized.

Hoofiekins, lvl 15 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 14 21
ATK 7 0 7
DEF 5 7 12
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 9 15
SPEED 5 0 5
Mme Gorehorn, lvl 15 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 2 9
ATK 7 14 21
DEF 5 2 7
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 2 8
SPEED 5 10 15
Paul, lvl 15 Skiddo
Stat Base Added Total
HP 7 6 13
ATK 7 6 13
DEF 5 6 11
SPATK 6 0 6
SPDEF 6 6 12

Now these Skiddo look really different! Right?
